Nadal predicts a "tough match" against Davydenko who is "playing well"

Nadal said he felt confident and now hopes to play at his best against the Russian Nikolay Davydenko on Friday, to keep himself alive in the Masters Cup. "I'm very happy about this first win, it was very important because if I had lost, I would have been out of the tournament," declared Nadal. "I felt very good, hitting my forehand well and my backhand and I also had a lot of confidence in my serve. I think I played a very complete match and I'm very pleased about that."

L D (EFE).- Nadal commented that he had been feeling he had recovered his good play for some days now. "I said so a couple of days ago. The problem is not my game, but today I played well, I was perhaps more aggressive with my forehand trying to hit more winning shots. I also played better at the important moments, that's for sure, and that's very important in a match," was his analysis.

He admitted that the game against Davydenko would be difficult, given the form the Russian is in at present. "It's going to be very tough because he's playing very well. He has done really well in recent weeks: winning 2 out of 2 tournaments and then two days ago he beat Tommy. Today he played well and had the match within his grasp," he said. "But Blake is tough at times. He returns very well. Their match was very good and, if I don't play my best tennis, I won't be able to defeat him. But I'm going to try to do so," declared Nadal.
